    Left for dead 2 (l4d 2) comming november 2009

Yesterday Valve relseased information on the steam website that left for dead 2 is going to be released November 17 (2009), with the following new features:

adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more.

Introducing the AI Director 2.0, L4D’s dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players’ performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.

Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch.

While this may be good news – isnt this just a money maker? I mean the survival pack was good, but didnt feature anything *new* (although the survival mode is pretty addictive gameplay)
Why couldn’t they just release this as an update to Left 4 Dead – after all when the game was released it was quite expensive for what it was (but did have the massive replay and online value) But at the end of the day everyone’s out to make a living…I hope they keep zoey in it!!!!

Windows 7 Beta download link & Expect a slow-down on the internet!

Well tomorrow (or today if you’re reading this on the 9th) See’s the public release of Windows 7 to the public.

Some people have already had access to the beta, but i expect tomorrow they’re be a surge of traffic over at Microsoft’s site with people (including myself) downloading the preview of Windows 7. So expect slow download rates of the new beta with a frenzy of downloaders.  Early reviewers say that Windows 7 is a pretty stable release for a beta, and some tests suggest it outperforms vista and even XP! But I’ll give it a go on an old Celeron D 2.53 GHz Dell machine and see what happens. The download will be in the ISO format, so you’ll need to burn the image using programs like Nero or the free  burning tool CD Burner XP.

I’ve no idea the size of the download yet, i guess it must be a few gigabytes and its unclear whether Microsoft will release it in the 32 and 64bit versions, but from the extract below it appears that both versions are available, but we’ll see tomorrow! Its also worth noting that only 2.5 Million downloads are available so get there nice and early!!!

I cant wait for the surge of mac boys and Linux fan boys slamming the os – its always humours! By the way I’m no Microsoft fan boy – i just believe there’s more important things in life to stupid arguments like “my os-is-better-than-yours” – those people need a life!.

Ive taken an extract from the official windows blog with details on Windows 7 Beta:

Download Windows 7 Beta  ISO files Here (will only be available from the 9th Jan!!)

The Windows 7 Beta is going to be available download-only (we’re not sending out physical media) and available for a limited time to the first 2.5 million people who download the beta.

The Windows 7 Beta will be available in English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi, and each language will be available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions (except Hindi which will only be available in 32-bit). Because the Windows 7 Beta will be offered download-only, it will be provided to you as an ISO image (an .iso file) that you download. After downloading either the 32-bit or 64-bit ISO image of the Windows 7 Beta, you will be required to burn the ISO image to a DVD to install Windows 7. So you want to be sure you have a DVD burner before spending the time downloading the ISO image.

To burn the ISO image of the Windows 7 Beta to DVD, if your PC comes with Nero or Roxio products – you should be able to burn the ISO image to DVD. If you don’t already have DVD burning software on your PC, you can also check out ImgBurn which is free and can be downloaded here.

The Windows 7 Beta only supports Windows Vista SP1 to Windows 7 upgrades. So if you intend to do an upgrade – be sure it is on a PC running Windows Vista with Service Pack 1. We are not yet announcing anything regarding finalized upgrade paths for Windows 7.

The Windows 7 Beta will be only available in one edition, which is roughly equivalent the Ultimate edition of Windows Vista.

Also, another important thing to keep in mind is that the Windows 7 Beta will expire on August 1st, 2009.

I also need to emphasize that this is a beta of an unreleased operating system. Be sure to backup all your important data. As much as the Windows 7 Beta completely rocks, part of the beta process is discovering bugs and reporting those bugs. Some of those bugs could possibly lead to data loss. I tend to be a risk-taker myself and have gone all-out with the Windows 7 Beta by putting it on almost all my PCs both at work and at home, but not everyone should do this. I recommend using Windows Vista’s Backup and Restore features to ensure your information is backed up before trying out the Windows 7 Beta. Click here for several methods of backing up your data in Windows Vista.

The Windows 7 Beta is targeted toward the enthusiast crowd – people excited and knowledgeable with technology. If you don’t quite understand much of what I’ve written above, it is probably best you don’t try to install the Windows 7 Beta.

    Apple pushes anti-virus for Macs

Hang on a minute…apple pushing anti-virus…i thought these ‘virus’ only affected the windows! Haha asif! Macboys in the world, please swallow your pride! Your operating system is not the best, (and no I’m not saying windows is better!) so get off your high horses about being virus free! You know that not to be true, and even the latest version of leopard was iffy with security! Just accept that no operating system is 100% secure, yes you were ’safer’ in smaller numbers, but now apples got a bigger market share, more attacks are being made on it!

The vast majority of malicious programs circulating online are aimed at Microsoft’s Windows, largely because the software is used by so many people.

Leave windows alone shunning it to being a virus laden os – in fact most of the viruses are caused by the user…visitng dodgy websites (aka porn and cracking sites) and using P2P

The support note recommends that Mac owners install one or more of three anti-virus products.

Advice on the site said: “Apple encourages the widespread use of multiple antivirus utilities so that virus programmers have more than one application to circumvent, thus making the whole virus writing process more difficult.”

Apple recommended users try McAfee VirusScan, Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11, or Intego VirusBarrier X5. A handful of viruses have been written that targets Mac’s OSX, but most have been demonstration versions only and few have had any significant impact on Apple users.

read more on apple pushing anti-virus scanners for mac

It’s quite ironic i guess that these ‘virus free’ operating systems ask owners of macs to install anti virus software! I guess I’ll probably be slammed now by lots of macboy fans, but hey oh well every-one’s entitled to their opinion!

Users even of Mac have entered the new era of the global community, dealing with viruses and their security upon a vast level of users. Ultimately defeating their purpose to buying a Mac for the virus free experience now is no more than a dream. There is no safe OS; there never will be as long as processes are able to be run, executions towards mellitus software can be committed.

“Apple recommended users try McAfee VirusScan, Symantec Norton Anti-Virus 11, or Intego VirusBarrier X5. ” – BBC News, 02/Dec/2008.

“One virus, known as AppleScript.THT, could take control of a Mac and grab screenshots or keystrokes.” – BBC News, 02/Dec/2008.

The question is whose OS is ultimately the finest in terms of security?

The globally known and most used Microsoft’s Windows, or the smaller brand known as Mac with their growing market upon a more prone system?

BBC 3 the wrong door – smutty aliens

Last week’s The Wrong Door (on BBC Three) was one of the funniest things i’ve seen for a while on tv. For those who have never seen it; The Wrong Door, BBC3’s new comedy series set on The Asteroid, in a parallel world.

I’ve read quite a few reviews on The Wrong Door, saying how ‘unfunny’ it is…i totally disagree! Some of the sketches are really clever and hilarious! Dont get me wrong tho, some of the sketches are rather bemusing.

Anyway, I recorded the wrong door on my media center pc, and i’ve uploaded to my youtube account the smutty aliens – which is deffanatly the funniest thing ive seen for a while!

    on youtube

Another good one to watch is the Wii (mii) sketch….as well as the girl who has a dinosuar for a boy friend!

Windows Live Messenger (WLM 2009) 9 download

    WLM 2009 Download

I’ve stumbled upon the latest version of Microsoft’s Messenger (formally MSN messenger) Windows Live Messenger  or WLM2009. This is still in beta stage of development, so expect plenty of bugs!

I’ve uploaded it to my server in-case the link gets taken down elsewhere (or don’t want to be bothered with stupid rapidshare ads!)

This is Build 14.0.3921.717 of Windows Live Messenger 9, so download and enjoy!

I’ve scanned it for viruses using my AVAST Home edition, but i strongly recommend to scan it before you install it! (i do not accept any responsibility for any data loss/etc from downloading this software…use at your own risk!)

So without further ado Download Windows Live Messenger 9 here!

In the next few days i’ll get round to writing my initial thoughts/review of the new version of WLM/MSN :)

Is the a point of having Windows Home Server?

    Windows Home Sever:

What’s the point of Windows Home server i think to myself as I stare and excogitate at my now installed 120-day Evaluation Windows Home Server. I installed it on a cheap (£5 – bargain off eBay!) P4 2.8, 1 Gig Ram, but i shoved in a 120GB instead of the the 40 Gig drive that came with the PC.

At home we have 3 PCs and my Laptop, so a central storage place makes sense…but i think to myself, can’t i do this anyway on one of the XP/Vista machines and just share that folder? It makes sense from an economic aspect because a server needs to be on 24/7 and with the cost of electricity going up and the concern of global warming/carbon foot prints.

    Backup Features

The nifty feature of automatic back-up is quite tempting, but is it really worth it? All that hard drive space required for images of each PCs drive, and my main desktop has a 500GB drive, so really at least a terabyte of storage is required.

    Remote Access

Another nice feature is the remote access, say I’m at uni, and i need a file…maybe my course work which was on my USB drive, and my drive failed, then i could access my work by typing in the domain name and bam! I’d have access to my work…seems quite neat idea, but i could easily implement a ftp server and use a dynamic domain name and port forwarding…

    Well…..?

So has Microsoft got my money for the £80 ish it costs for the OEM version? Well I’m not entirely convinced but i’ll give it a go, and see how it performs. Mind you I’ll put it to good use by running out Day of Defeat Source server for the VBC clan on it :P …if i could manage to get mani plug in working for the new orange box update!!!

    Most Haunted Faked?

    Is Most Haunted Faked?

In this post I’ll see if i can answer this very question…

Most Haunted is a popular show on TV claiming to find the truth of the existence of the paranormal, but is this show being economical with the truth of the existence of ghosts?

Take a look at this selection of evidence that most haunted is fake…

(evidence against most haunted video 1)

    video 2

In addition to these videos, the UK Paper, the mirror printed an article about the claims that most haunted is faked.

Resident parapsychologist Dr Ciaran O’Keeffe has sensationally lifted the lid on the ghost hunting series, Most Haunted … and claims that the public are being deceived by “showmanship and dramatics.”

Here I agree with the paper that Derek Acorah was probably faking it …I saw him twice (well one and a half times in Scarborough…the half being leaving the show half way through because i was bored to tears with the crap he was coming out with).

In my opinion [Ciaran O'Keeffe ] , we’re not dealing with genuine mediumship…He devised a plan to see if Derek was deliberately deceiving the public.

While on a shoot at Bodmin gaol he invented a long-dead South African jailer called Kreed Kafer – an anagram of Derek Faker.

“I wrote the name down and asked another member of the crew to mention it to Derek before filming.

“I honestly didn’t think Derek would take the bait. But during the filming he actually got possessed by my fictional character!”

Granted, that some of the information Derek got could of being acquired from his spirit guide ’sam’, more likely it was information he had read on the Internet prior to going to location…apparently they are not supposed to know where they’re going prior to shooting. However in series 6, Derek left most haunted…apparently due to conflicts between him and Yvette…probably sacked because of this exposed incident!! (in addition to yvette calling him a faking b****rd!).

Nevertheless, I do not think that all of it is faked. The production team are under so much pressure for something to ‘happen’ that they may fake some things in it.

However, in most haunted episodes, virtually nothing happens!

On a side note: what has happened to the orbs?…in recent episodes orbs have mysteriously stopped being ‘caught’ on camera…in earlier episodes they featured quite heavily…spookily in recent series hardly an orb has been caught on camera…how very odd.

One thing I’m not so convinced on is the table tipping…but on one of the episodes it clearly shows that no-one was lifting the table, something that Ciaran couldn’t’t explain.

So in conclusion as i stated earlier i think aspects of it could be faked…but why would they fake it? Why risk their production company reputation? But we definitely can agree that Derek is a phony!!!

In the words of Yvette…”Till next time Sleep tight!”

By the way…anyone noticed the similarity between Ciaran and the naughty pigs from Shaun the sheep…they could be related!

Most annoying things people do on…..MSN/Windows Live Messenger

MSN/Windows Live messenger can be a great and inexpensive way of communicating with friends, however, like most things in life – there are people who do really annoy things – just because they want to!!!

I have compiled a list of my personal peeves that people do on msn/wlm:

    • use excessive ‘lol’ (ok i do it sometimes)
    • Write a few words on a line
    • Nudging – can be fun when doing nudge wars…but most of the time very annoying and less likely for me to respond!
    • excessive use of emotions
    • excessive use of winks
    • signing in and out constantly
    • talking to people of who go offline without saying bye
    • (S.R.S) selective response syndrome – where a ‘friend’ will ignore something you said/asked but reply to others

    • Blob 4:35 pm on September 8, 2009 Permalink

also when they start to write something and then you see the thing that comes up saying ” anna is writing” and then suddenly it will dissapear cos they’ve decided not to write it. It’s just as bad as soemone saying “i’m going to tell you somethign actually no im not” hehe =]
